Why Do I Love Her….

As I sit tonight and watch the pageantry of the World Series opener, I am reminded why I love America. I have lived in Europe and the Far East and represented America in an unpopular war that sent nearly 60,000 of her sons and daughters to an early grave. These facts have earned me standing to comment. There is and never will be another country that offers what she offers.

I love her because she is a working Constitutional Republic whose strength emanates from the people.

I love her because we are a nation of laws, bound by a universal respect for fairness.

I love her because American’s, even misguided and disrespectful citizens, are able to express their displeasure peacefully without fear of retaliation.

I love her for her mountains, flatlands and sea coasts all offering splendid sunrises and sunsets.

I love her because we are blessed with incredible natural resources, from energy to an amazing capacity to produce food for the world.

I love her because her people understand the power of shared wealth.

I love America because she challenges your senses, the smell of just cut wheat, the sound of a riffle on one of great rivers, the never ending growl of an busy interstate highway, the bugle of an elk or snort of a white-tail, the whisper of wind through pine trees and chill on a fall morning.

I love her for the opportunity that every citizen enjoys. Opportunity exists in an open society where we are free to seek the role we want to play.

I love her because she doesn’t look for trouble but will circle the wagons and fight to death when threatened by the inherent evil in other parts of the world.

I love her because her sons and daughters will willingly die to protect her sovereignty, producing selfless souls who don uniforms and step up to challenge a threat, internal and external.

I love her because she stands alone in the world in her ability to repair her faults.

America never rests. She is on the move, pursuing excellence in everything from medicine to fine dining, from innovation to tradition, she finds her way. I question the motives of those who disrespect her and the symbols of her greatness. You may disagree with policy or politics, but you can do so without disrespecting the symbols of the country that gives you that right.

I love America for a myriad of reasons and can think of not one reason why I would ever disrespect her. Not one……
